What is ransomware?

A growing problem is the use by hackers of ransomware, that is malicious software that they can install on your computer to lock you out of your files. Once they have you locked out, you may receive an email demanding money to return your files to you, by giving you the password for example.

Avoid the problem by maintaining good internet security, protecting your passwords and consider encrypting and/or using a canary/honey token with your sensitive data.
